Siheyuan: Jiang Jianjun Beats His Wife While the Whole Courtyard Watches

Han Qingqing's cries ring out from inside the house, clear enough for the entire courtyard to hear: “You come home drunk and beat me every day. What kind of man does that make you? I really didn't give Silly Zhu that scarf around his neck!” Neighbors gather in twos and threes outside Jiang Jianjun's home. Third Uncle sighs that the child doesn't know any better, while Jia Zhangshi curses her as a no-good, sharp-tongued woman. Silly Zhu, wearing a gray padded jacket and a bright red scarf, cries indignantly, “There's no excuse for beating your wife!” His little eyes keep darting toward Qin Huairu. Old Deaf Granny pokes him in the back of the head with her cane. “Grandson, you and I aren't done with this.”
