Lakers Champions: Starting with Buying the Team

He bought the Los Angeles Lakers at twenty-four. From then on, I write the rules of the NBA. Lin Yuan, twenty-four, a self-made Wall Street wolf.

When the Buss family announced it was selling the Los Angeles Lakers, the whole world assumed the buyer would be some Middle Eastern oil prince or Silicon Valley mogul.

No one expected the final signature on the purchase agreement to belong to a young man from China.

All cash. 6.8 billion dollars. No installments, no partners, no fund backing.

The news sent shockwaves through the entire league.

ESPN broke in with an urgent announcement. Twitter's servers crashed twice. Fans around the world searched for the same name: Lin Yuan. Who was he?

On his very first day in charge, he did something that left everyone dumbfounded.

He traded away the team's irreplaceable cornerstone and the face of the league for the next decade: Luka Doncic.

ESPN's grade: D+.

A prominent commentator roared, “This is the stupidest trade I've ever seen!”

Fans burned his portrait, while the media declared on their front pages, “The Lakers dynasty is over before it begins.”

Nobody knew that Lin Yuan held an ace up his sleeve, one the entire world was unaware of.

A System.

A System that let him equip Chinese players with templates based on legendary stars.

Give Yang Hansen Nikola Jokic's template.

Give Zeng Fanbo Paul George's two-way game.

Give Li Kaier Kawhi Leonard's elite defense.

Give Lin Wei Devin Booker's scoring instincts.

The assets in his hands were mocked by the entire world, but only Lin Yuan knew that when the System finished integrating, the whole league would pay for mocking him today.
