[Alternate history + 1970s setting + System + Pure romance]
Chen Xue, a village girl born and raised in the countryside, suddenly binds herself to a Gossip System. On the very first day, it assigns her a task:
Watch the male and female leads meet for the first time at the train station.
Chen Xue: “Easy!”
After completing the task, she opens a treasure chest and gets three hundred jin of rice.
And so Chen Xue begins her journey to “get rich by watching the gossip”:
She watches an educated youth try to impress someone and gets a marksmanship skill.
She watches people argue over who stole a pair of underwear and gets three hundred jin of brown sugar!
While everyone else sweats in the fields, she sits around the village watching the drama unfold.
A few years later, the home of unremarkable Chen Xue becomes the first household in the commune to have ten thousand yuan.
When the villagers ask how she did it, Chen Xue smiles. “Listen more, watch more, and don’t say too much.”
