The Lost Traces of Yongle: Zheng He's Voyage to the West in Search of Jianwen

In the first year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty, the palace city of Nanjing was burned down overnight, and Emperor Jianwen disappeared mysteriously. Zhu Di sealed off the entire city and tortured the old ministers and eunuchs, but only found an unidentified charred corpse in the ashes. Many years later, Zheng He went to the West for the second time and contracted an illness while in coma for three days. After waking up, he discovered that his dream about Nanjing's Huoye was not a nightmare, but an old scene awakened by the sea water. The headless bones of Baoen Temple, the secret sea map of Taizu, the Seven Seas and Seven Locks, the first edict of Wushou Temple, the mysterious white-clad imperial master, and the girl Shen Mingshu who can read the "Gate" gradually lead Zheng He to a truth that has been erased from history books: Emperor Jianwen may not have escaped or died, but was sent into a taboo called the "Third Gate". Zhu Di wants to retrieve Jianwen and stabilize the throne; the White-coated Imperial Master wants to rewrite the world in Jianwen's name; and Zheng He must make a choice between the emperor's order, the truth, and the world. When Nanjing is on fire, the sea opens its third gate. What Zheng He is really looking for may not be Emperor Jianwen, but who is qualified to make the first move in the new world.
