I Am the Chief Helmsman

Zhang Ling used to work at a university. One nap later, she woke up in an ancient home that was utterly impoverished.

The household consisted of an old man and seven little children, including her.

There was no one to hold the family together.

Young Zhang Ling led her family in selling food to earn enough to eat.

And so she set up a stall to make money, farmed the land, and gave the village children paid lessons to teach them to read.

Later, she wrote one book after another. Through storytellers' performances, those books quietly opened the minds of girls across the land.

She also took care to keep her secret identity concealed. No one knew that she was the celebrated literary giant known as the Scholar of Qingdai.

She always worked quietly behind the scenes.

She gathered a group of people and got them working together in secret.

Then one day, a broad and promising path suddenly appeared: women everywhere could now take the imperial exams and enter government service!

This is a story about cherishing girls. May everyone cherish girls!

No pork offal, no spices, and no digging up ginseng.

No pocket dimension, no System, no supernatural powers, no golden finger.

The story makes sense. No making characters stupid for the sake of the plot.

The female lead is career-driven, free-spirited, and carefree.

The male lead is the female lead's little tagalong, a crybaby and a clingy sweetheart.
