Xu Zhengyang, a modern reconnaissance battalion commander, is leading his team on a top-secret mission codenamed “Heaven-Replenishing Stone” when an earthquake and equipment failure send the entire squad transmigrating to the Great Zhou dynasty, a fictional realm resembling the divided world of the Wei, Jin, and Southern and Northern Dynasties. In this age of collapsing rites and social order, foreign powers invade, feudal lords carve up the land, and the people live in misery. Xu Zhengyang and his comrades must not only survive, but also bring modern military ideas to this suffering land. Starting by gathering their first group of refugees, they build fortified settlements, train elite troops, fight powerful clans, and drive out foreign invaders, until they have conquered the realm. Xu Zhengyang wants more than to rule and dominate. With a vision beyond his time, he aims to reshape the system and give the people a peaceful life, preventing another catastrophe like the chaos wrought by the Five Barbarians at its source.
