Canceled Online, I Became a Star Through a DORO Parenting Show

Shen Sui Sui had been blacklisted across the internet for three years. The day her talent agency ran off, she had only 500 yuan left in her account.

On a rainy night, beside a trash can at the mouth of an alley, she found something pink. A torn dress, mismatched blue and green slippers, and two little arms clutched a moldy tangerine protectively. When Shen Sui Sui raised a hand to fix her rain-soaked hair, the little thing cowered with its arms over its head. “Human, don’t hit me! Oh Runji, take you…”

The movement was far too practiced. Too practiced to be a first.

For a 150,000-yuan appearance fee, Shen Sui Sui brought the little beast, who called itself “Doro,” onto the country’s most popular children’s reality show. While the other kids wore designer outfits and showed off their talents, Doro clung tightly to a transparent plastic bag and pulled out a shriveled tangerine. “Human, eat! You need a full belly to have the strength to curse those bad guys!” The comments went wild: [What species is that? It’s so shabby!] [Wait… its obsession with tangerines is kind of strange.]

Then one day, Doro placed its last dried-up tangerine in Shen Sui Sui’s hand and, swallowing hard, said something that made the comments across the internet instantly fall silent: “In that place, if someone gives a child this, the child can leave and have a home… Now Doro gives it to you. Doro wants to leave with you.”

The trending topic exploded. The whole internet owed Doro a home.

But Shen Sui Sui didn’t have time to check the trending topics. She wanted to know just one thing: Where had this little creature come from, when it had to trade even a rotten tangerine for a “home”?
