Synopsis

Urban romance + sweet love + comedy + stubborn denial + roommate's younger sister + traditional opera singing. He secretly dates the girl he rescued from drowning, only to discover that she's his neighbor across the hall, and his roommate's younger sister. Keep it secret, pretend we don't know each other, meet in secret, her brother sleeps in the bunk above mine.

On the Winter Solstice, the two of them huddled in their rented apartment, eating hot pot.

“Why did you agree to keep it secret back then?” Shen Qinghe picked up the last slice of beef tripe.

Lin Fang stared at the empty plate. “I was afraid your brother would beat me up.”

“That’s all?”

“I was also afraid you’d move away.”

“Are you not afraid anymore?”

Lin Fang didn't answer. He picked the beef from his bowl and put it in hers.

“What are you doing?” She looked up.

“Don't you like beef?”

“Did I say that?”

“The first time we had noodles, you picked all the beef out and gave it to me. You said you didn't like it. But later I noticed you order beef noodles every time.”

Shen Qinghe froze for a second, then lowered her head with a smile.

“Good observation skills.”

“I learned from you.”

She put down her chopsticks and propped her chin on her hand as she looked at him. “Lin Fang.”

“Hmm?”

“You already liked me back then, didn't you?”

Lin Fang turned his face away. “Eat your hot pot.”

“Your face is red.”

“The pot's hot.”

“Liar.”

Snow was falling outside. Shen Qinghe reached for the curtains but couldn't quite get them. Lin Fang stood up and drew them closed. When he sat back down, she quickly kissed him on the cheek.

“You, ”

“You taste like red bean buns.” Her eyes curved with laughter. “That's our secret signal.”

Lin Fang touched his cheek and couldn't say a word for a long moment.

Finally, he managed, “Give me another one. I couldn't tell.”

Shen Qinghe stuffed a piece of beef tripe into his mouth.

“Dream on.”

One Female Lead! One Female Lead! No Flirting! No Womanizing!

Preferably something like a thriller, since the male lead won't have time to chase other women. 🤔

A Single Female Lead With Lots of Screen Time, Smart and Never a Burden on the Male Lead

One female lead, with plenty of screen time. She’s clever, not a burden who depends on the male lead. She’s cold to everyone else but sweet to him. Something sweet, in a male-oriented story.
