I Worship No Common Gods

The gods descend, and all the people prostrate themselves.

The Mountain God demands living sacrifices, the Matchmaker ties the threads of death, the City God snatches living souls, and the River God demands virgin boys and girls.

They wear the robes of gods and feast on mortal flesh and blood, yet people worship them as saviors.

Everyone bows and begs for mercy. Only Lu Chen raises a hand and tears the idol apart.

"You want me as a sacrifice? You dare call yourself a god?"

"I decide what happens to my life."

From that day on, the mortal world had one fewer believer and one more godslayer.

He smashed the Mountain God with a slap, burned down the Matchmaker's shrine, and crushed the Book of Life and Death beneath his heel.

He told everyone: "There have never been any saviors. The only ones who can save us are ourselves."

Seated above the nine heavens, the Kunlun God sneered. "Mortal, defy the will of Heaven, and Heaven's wrath will be upon you."

Standing atop a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, Lu Chen drew his blade and faced the heavens.

"Then let Heaven defy me for once."
