Siheyuan: Transmigrating as Bang Geng, I Won’t Be an Ungrateful Brat

[No holier-than-thou heroine, no brainless antics, one female lead, genuine emotions, and a chance to relive the everyday life of that courtyard.]

When the male lead wakes up, he discovers he’s become that ungrateful, thieving little brat.

From the start, there’s a courtyard-wide meeting. Xu Damao points at He Yuzhu and calls him a chicken thief, while Silly Zhu foolishly takes the blame. Jia Wen, a modern soul who has entered Banggeng’s body, looks at the man who protected his family in his previous life, only to be ruined by them in the end, and steps forward.

“I stole the chicken, and I took the soy sauce too. My uncle had nothing to do with it.”

Those words set the entire courtyard buzzing. Jia Zhangshi nearly faints on the spot, Qin Huairu’s eyes practically pop out of her head, and everyone in the courtyard waits to laugh at the Jia family.

But no one expects Banggeng to have changed.

He stops stealing and bullying Huaihua, and he no longer takes advantage of Silly Zhu. He starts protecting his mother and holding the family together, pulling the Jia family out of the mud one step at a time.

Qin Huairu wants to remarry? He supports her.

Jia Zhangshi starts making trouble? He puts her firmly in her place.

The whole courtyard treats Silly Zhu like a sucker? He won’t stand for it.

By refusing to be an ungrateful wretch, Banggeng finds a different path in the courtyard of the 1970s.

It’s not an easy path. Xu Damao schemes against him, Deputy Director Li has his eye on Qin Huairu, and plenty of neighbors are just waiting to see him fail.

But Jia Banggeng has this to say: Whoever treats me well, I’ll remember it for the rest of my life. Whoever tries to bully my family, I’ll remember that for the rest of my life too.

Amid the courtyard’s storms, watch him go from ungrateful brat to pillar of the family.
