Everyone Else Lies Flat as County Magistrate, So Why Am I Getting Promoted Every Day?

How dare you! The county magistrate is off duty. Even the empress has to wait in line...

After transmigrating to the Great Qian Dynasty, Li Ping bound himself to the Nine-to-Five Sign-in System. As long as he clocked in and out on time and never worked overtime, he’d receive all kinds of god-tier rewards: high-yield potatoes, steel-forging blueprints, even Gatling gun plans!

To avoid a promotion and overtime, he clocked out on time every day, sipping tea and listening to music, while turning his jurisdiction into a fortress-like utopia. Three years later, the old man sweeping the county yamen was a Sword God from the previous dynasty, every constable guarding the gates was a grandmaster, the granaries were overflowing with food, and three thousand sets of heavy armor for the Great Snow Dragon Riders were gathering dust in the armory.

When Empress Ji Ruxue went undercover to investigate corrupt officials, she was horrified to discover that even the common folk in this shabby little county could casually beat grandmaster-level death warriors to a pulp. High-yield grain crops were everywhere, more than anyone could eat. This wasn’t some den of corruption at all. It was the ultimate formation anchoring the fate of the Great Qian Empire!

Even more devastating for the empress, her prized imperial jade seal, the highest symbol of authority bearing the words “As Though I Were Present,” was propping up a table leg beneath Li Ping’s desk.

“A genius of statecraft like you must come back to the capital and serve as my chancellor! You’ll work overtime every day!”

Faced with the empress’s repeated attempts to promote him and wave after wave of attacks from every faction, Li Ping only wanted to protect his weekends. “Stop promoting me. I just want to clock out on time!”

This is a hilarious story of a protagonist who lies flat while everyone around him imagines that he’s unfathomably deep. Every “masterstroke” the villains see is just Li Ping’s reluctant attempt to do less work. Watch as a seventh-rank county magistrate lies flat all the way to the throne, only to be forced into wearing the imperial robes.
