A car accident sends Fang Shiyue into a book, where she becomes the widow of an escort guard who died unjustly.
The world of the book is the fictional Great Zhou dynasty. Its male and female leads are Shen Changgeng’s cousin, Shen Changdong, and his cousin’s wife, Ye Qingqing. Shen Changgeng’s entire family serves as a stepping-stone for the leads to build their fortune.
In the book, Shen Changgeng is an escort guard at an escort agency in the prefectural city. He dies saving someone during an escort mission, and the agency gives the Shen family a sum of money. The leads use that money to make their fortune.
