Su Nian is a small-time streamer who takes on the elevator game late at night and stumbles into a rules-based horror scenario broadcast live across the globe. She uses loopholes in the logic to force vengeful ghosts to go on strike, then passes a proposal by popular vote to turn the System from a dictatorship into a democracy.
But she isn’t alone.
Gu Yan: An S-00 survivor, trapped for three years. He never lets go of his notebook, interpreting every ordinary thing Su Nian does as part of some grand strategy. He thinks he’s analyzing her, but really, he’s just making things up in his head.
Jiang Ying: Formerly the S-07 management AI, now an M-01 anomalous consciousness. She is like a mirror: composed, perceptive, and sparing with words. She is learning how to be human, and Gu Yan is her textbook.
Lin Zhaozhao: Su Nian’s biggest fan and the team’s mood-maker. She’s talkative and warm, and she knows how to make rice porridge. She won everyone’s stomach with a bowl of porridge, and healed Zheng Jue’s heart with a single sentence.
Zheng Jue: A veteran and an S-12 scenario survivor. He is taciturn and always stands at the back of the group. He may not be good with words, but he will always put himself between everyone else and danger.
Zhou Muzhi: A socially anxious hacker who cracks the System’s code. He struggles with socializing, but he can dig secrets out of the System’s deepest layers that no one else can find.
They are not just sidekicks to Su Nian. They have their own stories, their own pain, and their own romantic arcs.
