Reborn: Let Bygones Be Bygones

[The Wise Ruler's First Treacherous Minister is updating~ October contest entry]

Fu Zhao thinks his cultivation has left him blind in both heart and eyes. The senior brother he had always respected and protected turned on him over some pretty boy, stealing his treasure and killing him. Yet an exemplary disciple from another immortal sect, someone he had barely interacted with, stood up for him in his hour of need. Though Fu Zhao still died in the end, he was clever enough to bribe the impoverished ferryman of the Yellow Springs Realm, who had seen nothing but dead souls, with a plate of clams. The ferryman turned the boat around and took him back to the beginning of spring, eight years earlier...

Sixteen-year-old Huo Hanzhang (icy expression): "Senior Brother, I want Fu Zhao."

The senior brother shook his head helplessly. "Hanzhang, people have to follow the rules while they're alive, unless they're the ones who make the rules."

Huo Hanzhang (gripping his sword): "I understand."

Senior brother: ...Wait, what do you understand?
