"The Void" is the collective name for all calamities. Its first wail rang out across the Great Dog Star, and from that moment on, the old laws ceased to apply. The Void captures humans to strengthen itself. Flesh, minds, negative emotions: all are its nourishment.
But humanity's fate should not be this. By chance, humans gained the ability to resonate with the source of the universe, ushering in an age of great biological evolution.
Wherever the Void goes, it corrupts the land and spawns places known as "Silent Lands." Black stones that consume the mind lie scattered everywhere. Once every hundred years, a Void Tide erupts, devouring all life. By the ninety-ninth epoch, humanity had long since forgotten its mother tongue. Each generation spoke other languages left behind by alien races. But humanity must preserve its civilization, carrying it onward to the next safe shore.
