I'm Ji Yuanying, a Taoist exorcist.
But I'm not like other Taoists.
Other Taoists subdue ghosts, deliver them to the afterlife, or destroy them utterly. I take them home, raise them, teach them to cultivate, then let them take revenge with their own hands.
The rich folks don't know any of that.
They hurt people, attract ghosts, and get so scared they can't sleep at night. Then they beg me to come over. After seeing me casually knead an evil ghost into a ball, they also ask me to tell their fortunes, read their feng shui, and relocate their ancestral graves.
Well... I can't exactly turn down money when it's offered, can I?
Raising ghosts costs a lot, after all. Incense costs money, cultivation manuals cost money, and building up the sect costs money too. Every commission fee paid by a wicked person eventually becomes incense money for the wronged souls on their path to revenge.
I even used the money to open an incense factory.
The incense I make, along with my other products, is snapped up by ghost cultivators, monks, and the rich and powerful alike.
You ask if the emperor tries to rein me in?
He can't avoid me fast enough. All he dares to do is send his precious, beautiful eldest princess to “persuade” me to work for him.
So don't let the sight of me lazing around playing games every day, sending virtual rockets to female streamers, and listening to them call me “Big Brother True Immortal” fool you. I'm a perfectly respectable Taoist.
Why won't you believe me?
