Chuntao and Her Butcher

In a poor, remote village, Chuntao's family promises her in marriage to a butcher from town.

Everyone says the butcher has a cruel hand and that the stench of blood never washes off him. Marrying him would be like jumping into a pit of fire.

Only Chuntao knows that this man, with bloodshed clinging to him, saves his gentlest side for her.

Life is rough, daily necessities weigh heavy, and rumors are everywhere.

A butcher's knife can sever flesh and bone, but it can't cut through the warmth of everyday life. Beneath his hard, rugged exterior lies a tenderness meant for Chuntao alone.

A story from a bygone era about an ordinary man and woman leaning on each other, warming one another through hardship.
