Shadows in the Abandoned City: the Night Before Dawn

I've been reading a wasteland mystery book recently, and I've read more than sixty chapters to tell you my feelings. Three years after the disaster, engineer Ling Yan dug out the letter from his fiancée three years ago in the ruins and followed the clues to the underground laboratory. The world view is very solid. The settings of the virtual void, gray fog, and out-of-control drones are not just to show off skills, but to really promote the plot. The truth is peeled away layer by layer, and each time a secret is revealed, it throws up deeper suspense. The characters are the most outstanding aspect of this book. The protagonist Ling Yan is calm and rational on the surface, but he has trauma hidden in his bones and is used to doing things alone. The villain Ming Jin is not a simple bad guy. He has his own logic and tragedy, which makes him quite complex. The line where the supporting character Mo Yu is looking for his younger brother is also very solidly written. The pacing is well controlled, each chapter progresses without too much water. There are no obvious signs of unfinished business yet, so you can enter the pit with confidence.
