The Lucky Little Darling of the Family

The orphanage in town is about to be demolished, and the nearby villages have been asked to take in its orphans.

In Qingshi Village, two couples seem like a good fit to adopt the two little girls: the family of Qiu Laosan, and Qin Hongxing and his wife.

So the village leaders discussed it and decided to give one unwanted little girl to each family. Nice and simple.

Qiu Laosan’s family refused. They said they might consider taking a boy if one was assigned to them, but they wouldn’t want a money-losing girl even if she were free.

Qin Hongxing’s wife was in poor health, and after years of marriage they still had no children. Both of them were happy to adopt a child.

Baozhu waited for Qiu Laosan to strike it rich so she could live like a young heiress, while looking down on and mocking Nuannuan, who she thought would spend her whole life in poor Qingshi Village. But after Nuannuan arrived at the Qin household, good things kept happening to the family, and their fortunes steadily improved. They became the first household in Qingshi Village to reach ten thousand yuan in savings, and the Qins treated Nuannuan like the apple of their eye.

As Baozhu waited for her own family to prosper and give her a good life, she looked at her alcoholic dad, her domineering mom, and the roof growing more dilapidated by the day. The more she looked, the more something seemed wrong...
