A hapless man left to die at the bottom of a hive is reborn on the eve of the outbreak. To avoid being chewed to pieces, he hacks his way through zombies and draws blood from mutants. In the end, he tramples both Umbrella and the Sentinels underfoot, takes a girl in his arms, and becomes an emperor in all but name in the post-apocalyptic wasteland.
