[Mainly youth and campus life + a little push and pull + a slow-burn romance + a powerful man lowering his guard completely + mutual devotion + sweet romance]
Cold on the outside, warm on the inside, ruthless and taciturn VS a seemingly jaded pawn
Zhou Qing moved to the unfamiliar city of Xinghua to escape her uncle’s family, who had been bleeding her dry, and opened a little convenience shop.
After stepping in once out of a small sense of guilt, and partly because she liked the sound of his voice, she became the object of Gu Lin’an’s suspicion.
At first, Gu Lin’an snapped, “Did you just meet them? Why is it such a coincidence? Or are you following me?” Every word was edged with irritation and suspicion, as if he were interrogating her for showing up.
Zhou Qing shot back, “If there’s something wrong with your head, go get it treated!”
Then one damn coincidence followed another. He kept testing her and drawing closer, yet convinced himself she was approaching him with an ulterior motive.
He turned into someone who would snap, “Zhou Qing, I don’t need it. Great, I don’t need it! So caring about me was just meddling!” A trace of anger showed on his face, while hurt and fury churned in his eyes.
Later, they were forced apart. Before they parted, his repeated pleas of “Don’t forget me. Don’t forget me…” revealed just how afraid he was.
And later still, when they met again after their separation, he asked in the freezing cold, “Zhou Qing, don’t leave me behind, okay?”
