The apocalypse is a white fog. It wells up from underground and devours people’s memories: first yesterday, then their loved ones, and finally themselves. Those completely consumed don’t die. They breathe and walk, but there is nothing in their eyes. The survivors call them “the Lost.”
Lin Mo suffers from a rare form of hyperthymesia and cannot forget a thing. After the apocalypse, this becomes his only weapon: he can read all the memories a person had before dying and use their skills. But each time he does, another white mark appears on the back of his hand, randomly erasing one of his own memories. He doesn’t know what he’s lost, or when he’ll realize it.
The one thing he will never forget is Su Wan, his wife. On the day the apocalypse began, she was exposed to the Silent Mist for nine minutes and lost three years of her memories: exactly the entire time they had known, loved, and married each other.
And when he finally finds her, the truth comes to light: he was the one who summoned the Silent Mist.
He remembers everything, except that he is the guilty one.
