A Pact in the Deep Mountains

In the autumn of 1936, war correspondent Chen Mosheng set off in the pouring rain with a treasure map, entering the deep mountains of southeastern Guizhou to search for his younger sister, who had been missing for seventeen years. When the door of an old mansion opened, he stepped into the space between the worlds of yin and yang. There, he began sparring with a group of sheltered women whose feet cast no shadows, and gradually uncovered the truth behind a contract with the dead and a fate shared by twins, hidden among their lies. This man-eating mansion, it turned out, had been waiting all along for someone of the Xiao bloodline to complete its final sacrifice.
