A thousand years ago, demons and monsters ran rampant, and the immortal path had grown corrupt. The imperial court established the Demon Suppression Bureau, using mortal martial arts, forbidden arts, and Demon-Slaying Blade techniques to suppress evil across the land.
A hundred years ago, the immortal sects feared the Bureau's immense power, which could slay immortals and vanquish demons. They joined forces with traitors from the demon clans and slaughtered the Bureau's headquarters.
Nearly all the demon suppressors in the land were wiped out.
