Three years after his younger sister disappeared, Shen Mo follows the guidance of a coin and stumbles upon the dark side of the world.
The Abnormal Events Bureau, Cthulhu entities, alternate dimensions: he’d never even heard these terms before. Now he’s the lowest-ranking trainee investigator in the organization, dealing every day with things that would drive “ordinary people who saw them” insane.
The organization gives him a card: The Fool.
Upright, it lets him see through cause and effect. Reversed, it lets him turn back time. The cost is that his shadow grows fainter with every use.
Shen Mo doesn’t care. What matters to him is finding his sister, uncovering the coin’s secret, and discovering the truth that is gradually emerging behind the 22 Tarot cards.
He fights his way up. Every card he collects brings him one step closer to the truth. Every time he uses the reversed card, he takes one more step toward becoming something inhuman.
But Shen Mo has no intention of stopping.
