Zhu Huihe was an expert on Ming history. Her favorite pastime was arguing online with Qing dynasty fanboys until they lost their cool.

That night, during a livestream, Qing partisans flooded the chat:

“So what if you know Ming history inside out? Put you in charge and you still wouldn't be able to stop the Qing cavalry!”

She stared into the camera and said, word by word, “If I were emperor, one day I would make all of the Qing kneel at my feet and cry ‘Long live the emperor!’”

Someone replied, “We'll see about that.”

The next second, everything went black.

When she opened her eyes again, she had become Zhu Huihe, the younger sister of the Hongguang Emperor Zhu Yousong, and had been granted the title Princess Yongning. The siblings looked almost exactly alike.

At that very moment, the real Hongguang Emperor suddenly fell gravely ill and died on his dragon bed. Fearing retribution from the court, the palace attendants forced her onto the dragon throne and dressed the real emperor's corpse in a princess's gown. They announced that Princess Yongning had died suddenly and buried the body with the rites due a princess.

Disguised as a man, she became the “Hongguang Emperor” of the Great Ming.

The rebel king had already been defeated, the Qing cavalry were about to reach the Yangtze, and countless people in Nanjing were secretly preparing to surrender.

Sitting on the bone-chillingly cold dragon throne, she suddenly remembered what she had said during the livestream.

“Didn't you say you'd wait and see?”

“Then I shall invite the Great Qing to its death.”

Empress from the start, the Southern Ming will not surrender, and the Great Qing must fall.
