The Beautiful Stepmom of the 1980s Gets Rich Selling Snacks While Raising Kids

Lin Wantang opens her eyes to find she has become the lazy stepmother everyone despises in the 1980s.

Her husband, Gu Chengzhou, has been missing for half a year. Her in-laws are pressuring her to remarry, her birth family is waiting to leech off her, and her three stepchildren see her as a wicked woman who might sell their grain and run away at any moment.

Everyone is waiting to see her make a fool of herself.

But Lin Wantang is staying.

With no food at home, she makes egg pancakes.

The children don't trust her, so she warms their hearts one meal at a time.

When her in-laws try to take her money, she settles the accounts in front of everyone.

When her birth family tries to leech off her, she cuts ties with them outright.

When a competitor tries to steal her recipe, she turns her little street stall into a restaurant.

From egg pancakes, liangpi, braised snacks, and steamed buns to snack shops, restaurants, and a food factory, Lin Wantang uses a little handcart to raise three kids into powerhouses and build herself into a successful businesswoman everyone envies.

Later, that cold-faced man corners her by the stove, his eyes red.

“Lin Wantang, you’ve raised the kids and made this house a home. When are you going to look at me too?”
