“Awake?” He doesn't look up. “Good. You're in the next scene.”
“Jing Yuan and Blade are still arguing next door over who gets a line,” March 7th says, poking half her head around the doorframe with a camera in hand.
Silver Wolf sits on the sofa chewing bubble gum and mumbles, “Relax, we're just recording some footage. I've already got the title: The Broken Worldline: A Massive Love Triangle.”
Wait, which worldline?
“Does it matter?” Silver Wolf blows a bubble. “You're the center of every one of them anyway.”
You slap the script away and stand up.
“Great,” says Dan Heng, pressing a new script into your arms. “Looks like you're in character already.”
The book's title is The Railway Men and Women x You: Short Stories.
Every story in this collection of short pieces takes place on its own independent worldline. Today, you might be an unknown passenger on the train; tomorrow, you might be an unfortunate new employee at the Corporation; the day after, you might just be an ordinary person running a milk tea shop on some planet.
