The Seventh Chime!

There's a legend about the old bell tower at Nancheng No. 1 High School: if you stand in its shadow and make a wish when the class bell rings for the seventh time, your wish will come true. No one knows the legend is real, though. The truth is, the way wishes come true is often nothing like you'd expect.

Lin Yu'an has a "time obsession." She has to be punctual, stick to her schedule, and write everything on sticky notes sorted by color. As the top student and class monitor, her life runs like a finely calibrated machine, until one morning she finds a stranger's watch beneath the bell tower. Its face is frozen at 7:07, and its hands will never move again.

The watch belongs to Lu Chi, a "problem student" whose name is regularly announced to the whole school. He keeps turning up near the bell tower during class and vanishing somewhere at the seventh ring. Some say he's waiting for someone; others say he's running from something. Lin Yu'an plans to hand the watch to a teacher, but then she finds an engraving inside the case: "For An'an. May you never have to learn the price of the seventh bell."

That's her nickname. But she's never known anyone named Lu Chi.

When the two are forced into a "behavior correction peer support group," Lin Yu'an gradually discovers that Lu Chi's skipping class, fighting, and silence all point to the same secret: he's reliving the same day over and over. Every loop ends at dusk, when the bell tower collapses. Even more terrifying, Lin Yu'an finds handwriting on her sticky notes that she never wrote. The messages warn her, "Don't trust Lu Chi. He's using you," and plead with her, "Help him. Only you can make him stop."
