The world is bound by a pact of orthodox lineages, and every cultivator must pay a spirit tax.
Yet all the spiritual energy gathered across the celestial domain is controlled by the Measuring Heaven Sect. Its claim to protect the people is nothing but an excuse for a great sect to monopolize resources.
To save his younger sister, whose spiritual root is withering, the unaffiliated cultivator Lu Heng takes a desperate risk and forcibly severs the spirit tax. From that moment on, the entire realm hunts him down.
At the brink of disaster, he awakens the ancient Divine Evolution Heaven Bead, gaining the powers to divine the secrets of heaven, find loopholes in the laws, and plan every move to secure victory.
Hundreds of miles away, the Spirit-Tracing Instrument closes in step by step. Within the sect, schemes and power plays keep emerging.
With the Heaven Bead as his piece and the rules as his board,
even the road of exile becomes a road of strategy. Watch as he protects those he loves and overturns this unjust order, caught between rigid rules and a mighty sect!
