[Supernatural] [No System] [No Romance] [No Female Lead] [Genius] [Folk Customs]
Deep in the mountains of Qian, the Nine Dong and Thirteen Stockades follow an old rule: in the seven days before a pregnant woman gives birth, no Nuo opera may be sung, no red lanterns lit, and no one may call the unborn child by name.
But before the Long family’s child was even born, the Nuo drum began beating inside the womb.
A paper sedan blocked the door. An umbilical cord steeped in yin energy tugged at the soul. A midwife who had been dead for twelve years knocked in the middle of the night, determined to bring him back from the road of the dead. His family fought desperately, asking only that he grow up safe and sound, free from illness and disaster. So they named him Long Wuyang, meaning “Long, Without Harm.”
But the moment the name was spoken, a crack split the ancestral Nuo mask, and it uttered these words:
“If he is unharmed, then all under heaven will suffer.”
From then on, Nuo opera, hanging coffins, cave burials, witch women, corpse-driving, corpse-changing hags, mountain spirits, and river monsters came calling one after another.
Everyone said Long Wuyang was cursed by a hundred evils and would never live to see his seventh birthday.
But years later, all the sects of the mystic world finally understood.
The last person anyone should ever mess with was the Long family’s boy named Wuyang.
