Sand in the Bones of the Damp Rainy Season

Shen Zhimian, a picture-book illustrator suffering from severe insomnia, seeks help from Song Qingheng, a psychiatrist said to be “patient and easy to talk to,” on the recommendation of a childhood friend. His warmth and professionalism are the only stability in Shen Zhimian’s chaotic world. But little by little, that “stability” takes on a sinister edge. The broken lock at home is mysteriously fixed. The editor who bullied her suddenly apologizes and quits. And in Song Qingheng’s home, she finds her lost keychain, discarded sketches, and even more deeply personal belongings she has no memory of losing. When his love reveals its damp, chilling nature as possessiveness, Shen Zhimian finally realizes that what she wants to escape is not her illness, but the “ghost” in a gentle disguise who has already imprisoned her.
