A retired traditional Chinese medicine doctor from the 21st century wakes up as a wicked old woman whom everyone in a famine-stricken year wants dead.
The original owner’s crimes are piled high: playing favorites, selling her granddaughter, and hoarding grain.
Her three sons resent her, her three daughters-in-law hate her, and the whole village is waiting to see how she’ll die.
But she calmly takes out her silver needles and sticks one into the county magistrate’s waist.
“This land belongs to Qinghe Village now.”
Everyone watches as she trades medicinal herbs for grain, acupuncture for fertile fields, and her medical skills for military merit.
Her greedy relatives scramble to curry favor with her, but she barely lifts her eyes. “Get in line. This divine physician sees only three patients a day.”
Later, her three sons kneel on the ground and beg her to take charge of the family.
Later still, the county magistrate brings her an official appointment, saying the imperial court plans to bestow the title of “Lady of Peace” on her.
The villagers go wild. “Is that old woman the reincarnation of the God of Wealth?”
