The Household Immortal Said Taoist Cultivation Came with a Government Job, and I Believed Him

[Ghost-hunting + lighthearted + comedy + livestreaming + Daoist tradition + mysterious cases + episodic stories + punishing evil and promoting good]

Yu Dao'an was just an ordinary office drone when he stumbled into a bizarre car accident that repeated seven times. A headless ghost rolled to a stop, then turned its head out of nowhere and grinned viciously. It laid down an endless ghostly maze, trapping him in the streets and nearly stealing his body and replacing his head. After he escaped, strange events kept piling up. A friend brought home a yin stone from the riverbed and was plagued night after night by a water ghost, sleepwalking to the riverbank.

At his most desperate, the fox spirit passed down through his family appeared and revealed his fate. It persuaded him to join the mystical world with the promise of “official certification and a government-backed Daoist post.” Forced to start from scratch, he painstakingly mastered orthodox Daoist arts and earned a legitimate Daoist registry, step by step.

To raise money to renovate his temple, he started livestreaming the supernatural. Combining orthodox talismans with immortal techniques, he unravels one eerie unsolved case after another in the city. Vengeful ghosts seeking lives, rogue immortals angling for government posts, and malicious rivals all come knocking. One man and a host of immortals roam between the worlds of the living and the dead, dispelling evil and soothing restless souls, turning an official Daoist post into the hottest steady job in the Three Realms.
