Back to 1977: The Young Educated Youth’s Family Is Getting Big

Back in 2020, the protagonist, Yu Shui, was just a little librarian at Peking University's library. Who could have guessed that in the blink of an eye, he'd be transported back to 1977 and become a sent-down youth?

His previous life had been a nightmare. He'd been beaten until he was crippled, and he'd watched his parents and grandmother die one after another. To find a way for him to survive, his stubborn old grandfather swallowed his pride and called in favors to get him a job as a librarian at Peking University. It was the only thing that managed to preserve a shred of his dignity.

But in this life, Yu Shui has come to his senses: To hell with fate. I'm going to live life my way.

A lifetime spent working as a librarian at Peking University has given him all the confidence he needs in this life. He's got nothing to do every day, and even when he's busy, he's got nothing to do. All he does is read, read, and read some more. He hasn't forgotten what happened to him before. He'll settle his past-life grudges in this life, making his enemies suffer the way he did. And he'll repay every kindness he received in his previous life, no matter how small, a hundredfold. But he's no self-serving “do-gooder,” nor is he a “corporate drone” swept up in the pursuit of fame and fortune. He repays every grudge and every kindness, but there's a streak of ruthlessness in him, along with a line he won't cross. He'll be a “bad guy” with principles, unbound by worldly fame and fortune, living only for himself!

As for his goals? A house full of confidantes, and children all around his knees.

Watch as this big shot rises from that era, first making it into Peking University's economics program, then building his reputation by writing songs and novels, before entering Hong Kong's financial and entertainment circles and carving a path to the top.
