Yang Jian is Shilan High School's famous sleep god. His deskmate, Lu Mingfei, is the loser everyone at school knows.
Yang Jian thinks he's just an ordinary guy, except that his dreams are unusually vivid. In them, he wears silver armor, carries a three-pointed, double-edged spear, and hears people call him “True Lord” and ask him to slay dragons. “Too much gaming must be giving me hallucinations,” he tells himself.
Then one day, a piece of chalk comes hurtling through the air from the math teacher. Without even opening his eyes, Yang Jian catches it neatly between two fingers.
“It flew into my hand by itself.”
Later, during a torrential downpour, he shamelessly hitches a ride in Chu Zihang's Maybach. That night, they drive onto a road that shouldn't exist, encounter a mad god riding an eight-legged horse, and pick up a broken spear said to “never miss.” Yang Jian is forced to open his Heavenly Eye and save everyone in the car.
Afterward, Lu Mingfei asks who he really is.
“A fan of eye exercises.”
Years later, a Cassell admissions officer comes calling: “Your bloodline rating doesn't exist in any known classification.”
Yang Jian rolls over. “Quiet. Let me sleep ten more minutes.”
