“The dead don’t lie. The living do.”
Lin Che, twenty-four, a former forensic pathologist.
With a terminal brain tumor, he has only three months to live.
He is dragged into an inescapable death game: the Ten Halls Trials.
There are no ghosts here, only rules.
After dark, never answer a call.
At three in the morning, never look in a mirror.
Never say the word “death.”
Break any rule, and you’ll face the consequences.
Every trial has rules in plain sight and hidden rules.
The visible rules will kill you. The hidden rules will kill you even faster.
But Lin Che has one trump card: his right eye.
It can reveal hidden conditions for death.
The cost: each use consumes a year of his remaining lifespan.
Trade a year for one more chance to survive.
Is it worth it?
“No, but I have no choice.”
The Ten Halls Trials, one hall, one level of hell.
When Lin Che fights his way through the first nine halls and finally stands before the final boss, the mastermind turns around.
The face staring back at him is exactly his own.
“Welcome to the Tenth Hall.”
“Ten years ago, you designed this game yourself. Now, tell me...”
“Will you choose to forget, or to start over?”
The rhythm of the story is particularly well controlled, the characters are vivid and three-dimensional, and the plots are interlocking and become more and more interesting the more you read. The writing is delicate and smooth, with a full sense of immersion. I sincerely recommend everyone to take up the game.
What a great book, so well written 😄
