In 2017, the Factory Made Fortune 500’S List of Fears

At the end of 2016, Lin Feng took the “Deep Well of Stars” badge from Chen Chuang and declared, “Our next leg: conquering the seas.”

In 2017, barely after taking office, he was beset by internal disputes over the company’s direction and a crushing defeat in a major bid. Worse still, sanctions took effect. “Chenxin” was added to the Entity List, GPU supplies were cut off, and cash flow was on the brink of collapse.

At the critical moment, a group of people hid in an old factory on Hongqi Street and cobbled together a “heterogeneous compatibility” framework the hard way. Soon after, the “Fuxi” large language model launched, Kunlun’s supercomputer won a major contract, and an international standards body accepted a Chinese proposal for the first time.

From being looked down on to being feared.

The third installment, “The Factory Made the Fortune 500’s Fear List in 2017,” sets sail to conquer the seas.
