Deep in Qingshi Village in Taihang, Shanxi Province, Li Dashan, a young man born as an ordinary hunter, put down his shotgun and picked up a rifle after the Japanese army slaughtered his village and his relatives died tragically. He led a group of fellow villagers, hunters, deserters, and stragglers to form an anti-Japanese guerrilla team, and fought in the dense forest ravines of the Taihang Mountains. During the period, they repeatedly dealt with the Japanese and puppet troops, cooperated with the main force of the Eighth Route Army to harass strongholds, disrupt traffic, protect the people, and counter-mopping up. They grew from a bunch of scattered villagers into an anti-Japanese force behind enemy lines to protect their homes and country. They spent eight years of blood to defend the land and water of Taihang.
