In the fifth year of the apocalypse, global resources were depleted and the population had fallen to less than one-tenth of its former size.
Just as human civilization teetered on the brink of collapse, the “National Fortune Ghost Realm” System arrived without warning. Every screen was forcibly connected to a livestream. It could not be turned off, and there was no escape.
The System announced: Each country must select one hundred citizens to enter the Ghost Realm and take part in its games. Win, and the nation's fortune will flourish and its resources recover. Lose, and the country's territory will be swallowed by the Ghost Realm, condemning it to eternal ruin.
The Ghost Realm is not hell. It is the physical manifestation of each nation's thousand-year history of ghost stories. Here, science gives way to laws, and brute force is no match for taboos. The rules must not be broken: those who break them will die. But rules have gaps and loopholes. They can be understood, followed, and exploited.
This is not a story about “fighting ghosts.”
It is a story about “understanding ghosts.”
The ghosts are not foreign enemies. They are the restless obsessions in a nation's memories, unable to find peace. Winning does not mean destroying the ghosts. It means helping them leave willingly, daring to leave, and finding a way to move on.
And to do that...
Someone must be willing to stay behind.
