“Those born under a Yin fate must not be taken in.”
Three years ago, in front of the bronze mirror that guarded the mountain, Ouyang Changfeng saw a shadow without a face reflected in it. He was cast out by Maoshan and spent three years stubbornly camping at the foot of the mountain, just to find out what that shadow was.
Then, in the autumn of the thirty-seventh year of Yongning, the Blood Moon hung in the sky.
All 327 people in Zheliu Village dropped dead overnight. The sole survivor knelt in a pool of blood and used mangled flesh to write the same name across the ground: Ouyang Changfeng.
Ordered to enter the dead village, summon lost souls, and slay the Horned Fiend, he finally glimpsed the fate that had haunted him for twenty years in the depths of darkness. The shadow inside him was none other than the thirty-seventh Celestial Master of Maoshan, who had entered meditation a century ago!
The Celestial Master left behind a final prophecy:
“When heaven is about to fall, one born under a Yin fate must take charge of Yin and Yang, or Maoshan will perish.”
And now, heaven was falling.
Coffins floated down the Yellow River, Yin soldiers marched through the mortal realm, and the dragon veins crumbled. Worse still, the Heavenly Court stood empty, the Underworld was out of control, and a traitor had emerged from the Daoist sects. A wasteland of death was spreading from the northern frontier, and the mortal world was being swallowed by the netherworld, one bite at a time!
In a turbulent age, Ouyang Changfeng, an outcast without even an ordination certificate, was forced to the very front of a crumbling world with a battered wooden sword and a rudimentary grasp of talismans, learned in secret over three years.
With nowhere left to retreat, he would stand his ground.
If all the gods and Buddhas in heaven were dead, then he would enter the Dao through his Yin fate and rebuild the boundaries in the depths of despair!
“Talismans guard mountains and rivers; the sword subdues Yin and Yang.”
“If ghosts and gods defy the laws of this world, then Maoshan will open Heaven’s Gate anew!”
Good,
