A Republican-Era Journey Beginning at Huaqing Palace

Winter, 1936, Huaqing Palace. The first thing I did after waking up from transmigrating was check the Mauser pistol at my waist three times.

Whampoa Military Academy, the Battle of Shanghai, the Defense of Wuhan, the Chinese Expeditionary Force... Those few brief lines in the history books were a wall of flesh and blood built with my brothers’ lives.

I’m no hero. I’m just an ordinary man who wants to live until victory in the War of Resistance. But to see that day, I’m willing to nail myself to every inch of scorched earth first.
