White Hair, I Want You Anyway

Contemporary romance | tragic love | small-town period setting | forbidden love | restrained yearning |

The county town was so small that once two people crossed paths, they could never forget each other.

She was a high school senior who had come from elsewhere. He was a white-haired hoodlum, trapped in a place he could never escape.

Everyone told her to stay away from him, and he pushed her away again and again: “Don’t come near me.”

But she insisted.

She had seen the grime of the streets clinging to him, but she had also seen the “him” inside, still fighting with all his might.

Until the day he shouted at her in front of everyone, eyes red with anger:

“Jiang Qing, do you fucking realize I have a wife and child?”

“Do you have no shame? Are you really throwing yourself at me to be the other woman?”

The other woman.

She had never imagined those words could describe her.

His words turned every one of her stubborn insistences into a joke.

But the county town was so small that no matter how they tried to avoid each other, they couldn’t.

It was a shame they’d met too late. A shame that in this life, she could never be his wife.

After he died, four words were added to his gravestone:

Beloved Jiang Qing.
