Tokyo Monster Hunt: The Daoist Venerable Without Papers

If this isn't your thing, please move along. Do not attack me!!!

They say you can't cultivate without spiritual roots? I'll slay demons and refine divine spirits, then become a god!

After dropping out of high school and visiting Taoist sects everywhere, Lin Ye was dismissed as “a mere mortal unworthy of cultivating the Dao.” Then the System unexpectedly transported him to Japan, where he became an undocumented person with nothing to his name.

While others cultivate by absorbing spiritual energy, he slays demons to extract true spirits and refine his soul. While others fight with magical treasures, he draws talismans using the Twenty-Four Star Mansions to suppress ghosts.

By day, he works the night shift at a convenience store, kneads dough at a ramen shop, and cares for the elderly at a nursing home. By night, he takes yellow paper and cinnabar in hand and roams Tokyo's dark streets, slaying demons and vanquishing evil.

He is sweet-talking and flirtatious, and his peach-blossom eyes have won the hearts of convenience store clerks, cat café owners, and female firefighters alike. Yet he has firm principles and never takes advantage of anyone in need. He may seem carefree, but he can't stand by when the weak are bullied. Even when his own life is on the line, he protects the innocent.

The Yin-Yang Bureau calls him an illegal exorcist and places the whole city on alert. Demons fear him as the Star-Mansion Talisman Master and tremble at his name.

From a wild god with a lonely flame in the wilderness, to a minor god who draws talismans in midair, to a small deity who lays down talisman arrays, he eventually gathers all Twenty-Four Star Mansions and spreads a talisman domain to suppress the Eight-Headed Serpent!

Lin Ye: “I'm Lin Ye, an undocumented person and a Daoist Venerable. From today on, I'll handle the ghosts of Japan, and I'll right the wrongs of this world!”
