Wang Xiaotian transmigrates with a MacBook Pro into a world where magic, divine authority, the Abyss, and ancient ruins all coexist. He does not arrive in an empty body, but in the dying shell of a local, “Edmund Kane.” The real Edmund Kane was lured by Abyssal magic and rendered an idiot during a soul-sacrifice ritual, leaving behind only broken instincts and an empty identity.
At the moment of transmigration, Wang Xiaotian’s modern consciousness, the remnants of the local Edmund Kane’s soul, and the MacBook Pro’s hardware and code are forcibly fused by a strange energy left behind in the Sanxingdui ruins. The computer is no longer an external object, but mutates into a “cognitive engine” that inhabits the spaces between the soul, nervous system, and magical circuits. The new personality born from this fusion keeps the name “Edmund Kane,” but is, in essence, a third person composed of Wang Xiaotian’s modern knowledge, Edmund’s otherworldly identity, and the cognitive engine’s processing power.
The cognitive engine retains the computer’s knowledge index, programming logic, mathematical models, AI conversational abilities, and reasoning framework, but must draw on energy from this world to restore its processing capacity. The new Edmund Kane thus embarks on a path entirely different from that of traditional mages: he does not meditate on deities, depend on nobles, or blindly copy magic incantations. Instead, he treats magic as a system of rules that can be modeled, tested, reproduced, and industrialized.
