A Republic-Era Literary Master: Starting with Meeting Xiangzi

[Alternate history]+ [A mash-up of TV and film dramas: The Age of Awakening, The Mansion Gate, Smoke Over Beiping, Love Deeply, Rainy and so on]

Gao Yue is a struggling writer who transmigrates to late 1916,

into the body of a poor Peking University student who hanged himself from the crooked old tree on Jingshan Hill because he owed more than seventy dollars.

He becomes Principal Cai’s secretary, Mr. Shao’s reporting assistant, and a contributor to New Youth.

At first, all he wants is to pay off his debts. Gradually, he becomes a Peking University teacher, a renowned journalist, and a literary great…

Principal Cai beams affectionately: "You wouldn’t believe it, but this secretary of mine asked to borrow money the very first time we met."

Mr. Shao holds up his newspaper: "Funny, he did the same to me."

The two gentlemen, Chen and Li, praise him by name: "Xiangzi fired the opening shot for the new literature movement in New Youth."

Mr. Lu puffs on his cigarette and smiles: "The kid’s talented. We’re good friends."

Xiangzi holds little Xiangzi and grins: "Sir treats me well! The very first time we met, he invited me to dinner."
