Octonauts: The Octopod Survival Code

The deep sea has never been a place for fairytale adventures.

I became the newest member of the Octonauts and entered the isolated Octopod.

On my first day aboard, someone shoved a yellowed, damp survival manual into my hands. Every rule was a life-or-death commandment. Anyone who broke one would be lost forever in the icy depths.

My familiar base gradually began to change: color-shifting corridors, crewmates with vacant eyes, a midnight knock that should never have sounded, and a huge shadow lurking beyond the windows...

Captain Barnacles was still stern, and Dr. Shellington was still gentle, but the light of the living had long since vanished from their eyes.

Kwazii was always watching from the shadows. Professor Inkling never answered when called, and Dr. Tweak’s laboratory held secrets I didn’t dare investigate.

Follow the rules, and you might just survive. Break them, and no one can save you.

As one crewmate after another began to seem like a stranger, I finally understood:

The Octopod was never an exploration base. It was a giant cage built by the deep sea, and no one who entered could ever leave.
