The spiritual stone of the Eastern Continent cracks apart, and the Stone Monkey is born. Thus begins the great calamity of the Journey to the West.
Xuanzang sets out west under imperial command, intending to save all living beings and deliver the mortal world. But to complete the eighty-one tribulations, the gods and Buddhas deliberately lay their plans, treating countless demons and other creatures as expendable sacrifices along the pilgrimage route. They slaughter them without cause, turning them into pawns in Heaven’s game.
The Silent Wrath Ancient Buddha of Mount Ling has one serene half of a face and one wrathful half. Seeing through the hypocrisy of the gods and Buddhas and the injustice of Heaven, he cannot bear to watch countless demons die in vain to fulfill the tribulation. He abandons his lotus throne and golden body, willingly descending into the mortal world.
From then on, clad in black and white robes, he walks the mortal world of the Three Realms. He does not oppose the great path of the westward journey, but he will defy Heaven and change the tribulation. Amid the game of the great calamity, he fights for a chance of survival for the innocent and demands justice from the gods and Buddhas above.
If the deaths of countless living beings are the price of so-called peace in the Three Realms, is that peace truly pure?
