Synopsis

On the day the regent held court from behind the curtain in the Fengtian Hall, the nine-year-old emperor asked me, “Mother, will you become like Empress Lü?”

I stroked his head and didn’t answer.

I am Shen Mingyi, empress of the Great Ming.

No, I am now the empress dowager of the Great Ming.

Everyone calls me “the greatest virtuous empress,” saying I helped two emperors usher in a golden age.

My husband was Zhu Yunying, Emperor Chongde of the Great Ming, its third emperor.

He reformed the bureaucracy, opened maritime trade, surveyed farmland, abolished slavery, and drove back the Mongols, making the Great Ming the center of the world. He was the Son of Heaven of the Great Ming, Emperor Xianzongren. Only I know what he went through in his life.

This is his story.

Looking for Stories About Young Emperors and Empresses

Looking for a story where the male and female leads support and trust each other, gradually rising to become emperor and empress, with both career ambitions and romance. I've been watching the Cang Xuan storyline in "Lost You Forever" lately, and it really makes me want to read about a young emperor and empress like that.

Early Ming Dynasty Stories, Preferably Historically Accurate

I've read most of the Ming Dynasty stories, but when I look back at so many events in real history, a lot of things seem seriously off. Any experts willing to dig into them?
