Lin Qiang's story, I used to think that cause and effect should be the inevitable result of "you" yourself/what you did in your previous life, but it's not just that. Cause and effect are countless intertwined lines. Cause and effect can have many causes. Even one thought can lead you to another effect. Cause and effect may not be something "you" have done, it may be karma or a cycle. It is true that you will suffer the consequences of sins committed in the past life, but sometimes just by stepping into an intertwined line, you will enter the cause and usher in the effect. Therefore, thoughts are also very important. Your thoughts determine what kind of karmic consequences you attract. If thoughts do not arise, then Bodhi has no tree at all, and there will not be many branches of trouble.
